After hearing about John Tapper’s very successful strategies for supporting struggling math students many want to know more! Many Vermont educators have taken the 3 credit graduate course with John and have rated it one of the best professional learning experiences they have had. Now you can spend a day with the author and learn some great tools to help your students.
In every classroom there are students who struggle with mathematics. Unlike reading, though, teachers often do not have access to instructional techniques to support struggling learners. This workshop suggests some approaches that can help. Participants will:
• Learn about assessment tools that can help identify student thinking
• Develop deeper understanding of critical math concepts with which many students struggle
• Use a variety of conceptual models to support student understanding
• Explore ways to structure lessons to support all learners

Learn why folks working with John come away saying, “I am so excited to approach my work in a new and more meaningful way.”
