Target Audience: Principals, School Counselors, Nurses, Special Educators and other who write or oversee 504 Plans
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal l assistance.
This training will focus on the requirements of the LEA representative for a student with a 504 plan to include:
• Child find requirements
• Referrals
• Evaluations
• Planning and Team
• Appeals and OCR Complaints
About our Presenters: As a special education director and Director of Equity, Erin Maguire has had years of experience in the LEA role and has trained principals for their LEA roles. Heather Lynn counsels Vermont public school districts and supervisory unions, semi-independent schools and Vermont colleges and universities on a variety of issues including student discipline, student disability/special education law, and civil liability.
