Ellen A. Thompson has been an educator for over 35 years. She taught as a classroom teacher in Vermont for over twenty years with many of those years in a multiage setting teaching children aged 6-9 years of age. Ellen was named the Vermont State Teacher of the Year in 1993. Ellen achieved her National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 1999. After leaving the classroom, Ellen joined the Elementary Education literacy faculty at the University of Vermont where she taught and conducted research for 8 years. In 2006, Ellen joined Essex Town School District as the District Staff Development provider in the areas of literacy and assessment practices. Ellen completed her doctoral studies in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Vermont in the fall of 2007. Ellen is currently the Director of the Instruction and Information Services for the Essex Town School District. In her free time, Ellen and her husband own and run a gallery in Grand Isle, Grand Isle Art Works and Cafe!
