Enhancing The Math Gameplan:

High-impact, Low-cost Shifts to Increase Engagement, Equity, and Understanding with Christian Courtemanche K-6

Target Audience: Educators Grades K-6

Level up both your pedagogy and your resources to be more impactful, more accessible, and more inclusive for every learner. Through exploration, practice, reflection and planning, teachers will dig deep into 5 instructional shifts to make math class more effective and engaging at all Tiers.

Learn 5 high-impact shifts to incorporate:

·  Weekly Reasoning Routines that provide context for rich math discourse and a community that empowers all voices

·  3 ACT Tasks at the beginning of new units to launch concepts and gather baseline formative data

·  Selecting & Sequencing student work to analyze and build connections along the progressions of understanding

·  Purposeful Games that promote strategic decision making, fluency development, and an impetus to talk about thinking

·  Asset-Based Targeted Instruction that allows students to have focused goal-driven small group time that builds from their current understandings

Explore each shift through the lens of:

·  Planning (the “before”) - how can we make our units of study, weekly routines, and small group instruction have a greater impact on the range of learners?

·  Implementing (the “during”) - how can our instructional practices provide a learning environment that is both compelling and safe (academically and socially) for every one of our students?

·  Reflecting (the “after”) - how can we learn about our students’ assets and next steps as we incorporate each shift?
