Make Scaffolding Your Superpower! (Grades k-8)
Presenter: Megan Grube, Assistant Superintendent Maple Run USD
Who Should Attend? Classroom Teachers, Interventionists, Special Educators, and Coaches
Is this mini series for you? Have you been wondering any of the following?
Are you truly differentiating instruction, or are you just giving students less challenging work?
Do your students rely on you for every step, or are you actively building their independent mastery?
Can you clearly articulate the difference between providing a temporary scaffold and simplifying the content?
How can you ensure every student in your diverse classroom accesses the rigorous content required by Vermont's EQS?
Unlock the full potential of your instruction and meet Vermont's Educational Quality Standards (EQS) with this targeted, practical training on instructional scaffolding. Move beyond basic differentiation and master the strategic supports that promote equity and accelerate student independence.
By the end of this mini series, participants will be able to:
✅Clarity on Scaffolding: Define what scaffolding is (temporary support for independence) and is not (doing the work for students). Stop guessing—know the critical difference between scaffolding and general differentiation.
✅EQS Compliance: Understand precisely how scaffolding directly supports personalized learning and ensures equitable access to rigorous content, making your practice fully compliant with state standards.
✅Practical Lesson Design: Learn to meaningfully integrate scaffolding into your lessons by effectively analyzing your students, content, and tools.
✅Master the Fade: Acquire the crucial skill of knowing when and how to gradually remove supports, ensuring students build self-efficacy and achieve true mastery.
